Ipad 2 is finally here

After what seems to be a very long wait the second generation of the apple ipad has arrived… Well not quite yet!
In fact the biggest shock wasn’t the features of the new tablet device, it was that the “on medical leave” CEO presented it to everyone. In his usual fashion, Steve jobs was on stage running through all his usual traits. Although he did look a little frail, it was good to see him up there.
So… The ipad. For many months, it has been said that the new ipad will receive 2 cameras (front rear test facing), be slimmer and also lighter. Of course this was the case with the new device looking rather striking with an all new front and aluminium rear. Something else new is the ability to attach a magnetic cover to the front to protect and clean the screen.
Other features include a dual core processor and faster graphics as well as gyro and HDMI output through a new adaptor.
In the US, they will begin shipping next week whereas the UK will have to wait until the end of March.

Gmail Desktop Notifications

If you use Google Chrome, you can enable a new Gmail feature that shows desktop notifications for new messages. Go to “Settings”, and enable chat notifications and mail notifications to see a small bubble when you get a new message. If you get a lot of messages, it’s a good idea to only enable notifications for important messages. Read more…
